Kadastro güncelleme alanına ait kayıt ve belgeler, zeminde mevcut olan sınırlar, kadastro haritaları, ilgililerince ibraz edilecek belgeler, ilgili hak sahipleri ile muhtar ve bilirkişilerin beyanları dikkate alınmak suretiyle mahalline uygulanır ve kadastro teknik mevzuatına göre taşınmazın sınırlandırması yapılır.
Bilindiği üzere; kadastro paftalarının; teknik nedenlerle yetersiz kalmak, uygulama özelliğini yitirmek ve eksikliği görülmek gibi nedenlerle; zemindeki gerçek durumu yansıtmamaları halinde yenilenmesi gerekir. Yenileme çalışmaları halen 3402 sayılı Kadastro Kanununun 22/a maddesi gereğince yapılmaktadır.
Kadastro güncelleme alanı; kadastro müdürlüğünce resen veya talep üzerine belirlenir ve bu şekilde belirlenen alanlar listelenir. Tapulama veya kadastrodan sonra idari sınırlarda meydana gelen değişiklikler, listelerin hazırlanması sırasında dikkate alınır ve sicillerin bunlara göre oluşturulması sağlanır.
