Kökeni Arapçaya dayanan ihdas etmek; "ortaya çıkarmak", "meydana getirmek" anlamlarını taşır. İhdas etmek emlak literatürü içerisinde ise bir yolun kapanması sebebiyle oluşan taşınmaz malın, düzenlenecek haritaya göre yoldan ayrılmasını ifade eder.
Yoldan ihdas haritaları, imar planı uygulaması sırasında kapanan yol nedeniyle oluşan taşınmazın tescili amacıyla yapılan haritalardır. – Yoldan ihdas haritaları, yer kontrol noktalarına dayalı olarak yapılır.
İmar planlarının uygulanması esnasında mal sahiplerinin gayrimenkullerinin tamamını ya da bir kısmını kamuya terk etmesidir. Kamuya terk olarak da adlandırılan bu işlem, imar planları çerçevesinde park, yeşil alan, oyun alanı gibi tesislerin kurulumu için yapılır.
Uygulamada yola terk işlemleri bedelsiz olarak yapılmaktadır. Yani şahıslar tarafından terk edilen kısım için belediyeler tarafından şahıslara herhangi bir bedel ödenmemektedir.
